Overview
Mass Media and Journalism Department at Mon National College is providing the academic courses for Associate Degree for Mon and other ethnic students, to obtain basic professional skills to be journalists, script writers, documentary makers, feature writers, communication officers and media managers in several media industries, marketing businesses and in both government agencies and non-governmental organizations in this information and communication technology (ICT) again. This is just basic learning on journalism for the students and they can improve themselves if they involve media works or bridge their education for bachelor degree in communication arts, journalism, mass media and communication in Business, in other universities or institutions.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Acquisition of Knowledge and Application: The MMJ students are able to apply the journalism skills and the varieties of mass communication to communities.
- Critical and Innovative Thinking: The MMJ students are able to produce critical and creative news analysis, documentaries, and social media contents by individually or in media organizations.
- Communicative Competence: The MMJ Students are able to communicate knowledge effectively and appropriately in writing, oral presentations, and through the use of other multimedia in diverse social contexts.
- Community Mindset and Belonging: The MMJ students are able to produce the media and public relations packings in the languages of community, with the balance of professional and humanity values.
- Professionalism, Professional Ethics, and Code of Conduct: The MMJ students are able to understand and apply media ethics and respect the reputation of individuals and in communities.
- Linguistic and Cultural Diversity: The journalism students are able to effectively communicate in getting facts and interviews, at least in three languages, Mon, Burmese and English.

The students completing in Associate Degree in Mass Media and Journalism are enabled to:
- Work as Journalists and Feature writers in media houses or media companies and provide accurate news to communities and respective audiences.
- Work as Script writers for documentaries, advertisements, events, and even movies.
- Work as a Communication officer in business companies, NGOs and CSOs, even in government organizations.
- Work as content writers for advertisement purposes and contents for Website and social media
- Work as media business managers whether in media organizations or public/private companies to promote its markets to reach out more audiences or customers.
